I've been in the Romance Travel industry for over a decade and the one thing that I've found over the years is that couples always hold the memories of traveling together in a special place in their hearts. There is something so special about whisking yourselves away together, going through the trials of travel and the true voyage of discovery - whether it be a new destination, new way of traveling or the discovery of each other away from everyday life together. With that in mind, and with Valentine's Day coming up, I wanted to share some of the best Romance Travel Trends for 2020 and 2021... - Love is the Food of Life, Travel is the Dessert - 1. Transformative Train Travel
With the emphasis on climate change taking a world-wide stage in recent years, train travel is on the rise all over the globe. This lower impact way of traversing new terrains is a call to the past when train travel was decadent, romantic, and the journey truly was a part of the adventure itself. Booking a trip on the Rocky Mountaineer, stopping in small quaint Canadian towns and rolling through the lush countryscapes of the Rockies in a glass-top locomotive while you rest your head on your partners shoulder and point out the magnificent wildlife as you sip a glass of wine with your meal before alighting to a chateau in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, is a sure-fire recipe for love and romance. Looking over the stunning vista of Lake Louise from your room while you settle in for the night is something that will feel straight out of a fairy tale! 2. Boutique Yacht Cruising Yet another lower impact way of traveling and something that will elevate your experience, is embarking on a boutique yacht cruise. Think no more than 30-60 suites onboard the whole yacht, 5 star service and surroundings as you explore the hidden ports and towns of areas such as Croatia that only a small vessel can get to. You'll take days off your travel time to these backroads destinations then if you tried to fly into a larger airport and take a car, bus and/or trains to get to these charming towns. You'll be pampered and entertained each evening as you head to your next port. This is no standard cruise ship though - envision luxurious and spacious suites, watersports straight off the yacht and sunsets in a different magical city while you toast in some of the most historic towns in the world. 3. Tour Da World Want the magic of being able to explore a country but get seasick, hate flying, or don't feel like dragging all your luggage through train stations every other day? Take a small group tour - or a private one! - and you'll have time to concentrate on each other and where you are, instead of how you get there. Small tours can get you to areas that you wouldn't be able to on your own or don't have the time to see with your limited vacation time. Plus you are set you up with skip-the-line access to the sites you might want to explore, have your luggage taken care of for you, VIP accommodations, and may be customized to what you and your partner are looking for. There are tours from Galapagos to the backroads of Montenegro, Morocco, the temples of India or the wonders of Australia and New Zealand. They are are built around you and what you want to do and experience on YOUR journey together. 4. There's a Reason They're Called "The Idyllic Islands" If you haven't heard of them, you should add them on your romance "must-do" list. These are the places dreams are made of, the destinations that you won't believe are real even when you're there. These islands are full of culture, warmth, beauty, and some of the most outstanding wildlife and marine life in the world. Think Fiji, think Tahiti - where history, culture and love abound - and you will find the epitome of romance and luxury. Granted, you all probably know by now that Tahiti is one of my favorite places on earth, and it's for a lot of good reasons! I'm one of the very few Tahiti certified specialists in my area and every time I visit, I'm filled with passion from the beauty and welcoming affection the second I land in this sacred destination. Days can be spent paddle boarding, kayaking and swimming off of the deck of your over-the-water villa as you explore the life underneath the surface in some of the clearest of waters you will ever see. Nights can be enjoyed with romantic dinners by fire pits as musician's play live music and you watch the sunset with champagne in hand. Take in a local show or hike to plantations breathing in vanilla scented air - you can make your stay as active or as secluded as you desire. While, it might be a little late to get away next week, it is the perfect time to start planning for next year, or for an upcoming honeymoon or anniversary - or better yet, plan a romance vacay just for the fun of it! What a perfect gift to each other this Valentine's Day - planning a romantic getaway to look forward to as a couple. It's never the wrong time for escaping together and exploring each other while you explore the world! New and meaningful experiences together has been connected to a healthy, long and loving relationship, so make sure you don't let the daily grind get in your way and find new things or destinations to go explore together! I highly suggest the beach places. Ocean sounds give you the best experience to feel that life goes on and it's a good experience to feel that with your partner.
