Like so many of you, we here at Destinations HD have been rethinking (and rescheduling!) our vacation plans this summer. The world is re-opening, but as we talked about recently, travel is going to be a little different for a while. So what next? If you aren't comfortable to jet-off to far away destinations with multiple plane trips right now, what can you look to do instead?

The answer that we are excited to share, is small group adventures right here in the USA! When you have grown up here, I think it’s easy to forget how special your own backyard is. (not literally. I think we are all sick to death of our own backyards at this point, am I right?!)

It's a perfect time to get out there and see our beautiful and diverse country with your friends and loved ones, as well as, put some fervor and finance back into the country. Read on below, to learn a little more about what Destinations HD can offer in terms of travel in the United States...

The Perfect Holiday Gift for your Travel Enthusiast

I am usually very prepared for Christmas and have all my shopping done by end of November.  However, there is always one or two people that I struggle with finding the perfect gift. My younger brother is normally one of those. He has recently caught the travel bug and always he keeps suggesting we take a trip together instead of gifts.

If you have a travel enthusiast in your family, the gift of travel is certainly better than anything you can buy on the shelf. However, how do you determine if this choice is right for your loved one(s) this holiday season?  Here are a few simple tips that may help you decide how to go about sending someone a vacation as a present...

  1. Don't assume you know where they want to go! Just because you thought Hawaii was amazing doesn't mean that everyone wants to go to Hawaii. Shocking I know, but it's true!

  2. Decide early on if you're paying for the whole trip, or just a portion of it. While a vacation is a nice gesture, it's no secret they can be expensive. If you're only purchasing a portion, you'll want to make sure you are buying a certificate that can be used for any destination. For example, Walmart may sell Southwest Airlines or Delta gift cards, but the problem with these types of gifts is they lock the recipient into an airline that they either may not like, or may not be able to use to visit their dream destination.

  3. Refrain from choosing their travel dates. Unfortunately, we don't always know someone's work schedule or their restrictions for taking leave from work. Open-ended travel dates are much better for gifts.

  4. Consider the time they will be traveling. Some trips are more or less expensive depending on the time of year you go. Then again, there is often a reason for slow seasons of travel, so do your research ahead of time.

  5. Work with a reputable travel agent like Destinations HD for the best results. Purchasing a gift certificate through Destinations HD will help you give the amazing gift of travel without locking your recipient into anything they don't want. By purchasing with us, we can apply your gift to any trip your recipient may want to go on.

Top 5 Romantic Adventures in Maui

2/15/2017

Need to make up for Valentine's Day? A romantic trip to Maui will certainly do the trick!
Picture
Also known as the valley Isle, Maui is the second largest of the Hawaiian Island chain in the mid-Pacific. Maui is popular for its magnificent beach resorts, incredibly diverse geography and endless outdoor fun activities including windsurfing, hiking, and biking, snorkeling. With the highest peak of the island encompassed in the Haleakala Park, countless waterfalls and pools can also be accessed via the famous and scenic Hana Highway. Maui is no doubt the best place for that romantic getaway you have been planning for, yet it also offers plenty for the adventurous traveler as well.

Below are just a few things that make Maui the best place for couples planning a romantic and adventurous vacation...

1. Road to Hana
One road trip on this historic highway will send you winding up, down and all around the mountainous terrain. There are several spots along the way to stop at including the ʻOheʻo Pools, often called the "Seven Sacred Pools." With it’s curvy coastal road with views of cliffs, beaches, waterfalls, and miles and miles of rainforest – we recommend renting a convertible for the drive so you can appreciate the pure beauty from all angles. Simply stunning!

2. The Haleakala sunrise
While in Maui the sunrises and sunsets will already take your breath away, but there is one place you simply must take in a sunrise. The peak of Mount Haleakala offers a sunrise at 10,000 feet that can't be described. Those who have experiences say that it's a moment you won't soon forget and it's one of the most romantic experiences you'll ever have. In fact, it was voted as one of the top 10 romantic things to do while in Maui!

3. Take a helicopter tour of Maui
Picture this for just a moment: You and your love holding hands as you take in this gorgeous island from a birds-eye perspective. Can you imagine anything more exciting than seeing all of those stunning waterfalls and the picturesque sites from the sky? Perhaps not. Of course, if you're feeling more adventurous, you could always go sky-diving and enjoy the views in an entirely different manner as you plummet back towards the earth!

4. Walk Hand in Hand on the Beach
This is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Snap some selfies, and bring back a souvenir better than anything you could pick out of a novelty shop. To add some adventure - go snorkeling or jet-skiing by day, romantic meal on the beach by evening and that hand-in-hand walk after dinner under the moolight. Are you packing your bags yet? We're tempted to right now!

5. Visit a spa
Okay, so there's nothing really adventurous about visiting the spa, unless you go for deep tissue or a hot stone massage. Some folks consider those exotic treatments! Still, what better way to conclude your tour of Maui than by soothing your bodies by being pampered in a spa before you head home? We can't think of a better way to end the trip. Then again, spa visits sprinkled throughout the entire vacation sound pretty good to us.

Bottom line, Maui should be at the top of your list for your next romantic and adventurous getaway. Those rolling waves, whistling pals trees, exciting drives (or hikes) and so much more await you. And, when you're ready to book, we'll be here to help you plan your perfect itinerary! 913-244-9195
