7 Tips to Make Dream Destinations Achievable!

We can always make more money, but we can’t make more time.  
​Here’s the thing - as we age, our energy runs out. And, the truth is, tomorrow is never promised. If you have dreams of seeing the world, you must start acting on that dream now while you still can. 

One of the saddest things I see in this industry is people waiting to retire to start going on vacations, only to be unable to travel due to age related health issues. I don’t want to see that happen to you! 

But, I can’t afford to travel now. 
I hear you. Travel isn’t exactly cheap. I encourage you to have a heart to heart with yourself and your potential travel companions. Is it really true that you can’t afford to travel, or is it just something you tell yourself?  

Jim Rohn famously said, “If you really want to do something, you will find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.” 

Are you making excuses? 
Here are just a few things you can do to start achieving your travel dreams now: 

1. Stop going out for coffee. With the many creams and blends available in grocery stores, you can make a cup at home that is comparable to your local cafe. Don’t have time in the morning? Make it the night before and heat it up before you head out the door. And, throw it in a thermos/reusable cup with a lid if you need to take it with you.  
   
   
2. Cook at home. If you spend $20 on meals out just three nights a week, that’s more than $3,000. You could easily afford a vacation on that. Maybe not the luxury trip you were hoping for, but we’re not done yet! 
   
   
3. Cut the cable cord. Look, I get it. It’s easy to come home from work, and turn on the television. But if you could save $50 a month or more for your travel budget, by swapping Netflix for your cable bill, wouldn’t that be worth it. 
   
   
4. Choose a healthier diet. Contrary to popular belief, all those cheap unhealthy foods actually cost you more in the long run. Not only are you hungry again shortly after consuming them, but they cause you to be more prone to illness which can mean more costly trips to the doctor.  
   
   
5. Downsize! Do you really need the large home you’re renting or paying a mortgage on? People are decluttering their spaces, and swapping expensive rent and mortgage bills for smaller ones. Where’s the savings going? To travel! 
   
   
6. Take on a side hustle. If you’ve cut the cable cord and are looking for something productive to fill your time, perhaps a side hustle is in order. It can get you that much closer to living your travel dreams.
   
   
7. Sell some stuff. If you decluttered to downsize, perhaps you could sell the goods you plan to get rid of before you move out. Who knows how much your excess jewelry, clothes, CDs and other goods could be worth.
